Day 11 - Otago Peninsula
Tuesday, February 05, 2008

S45°52.5' E170°42.93'

Partway down the Otago peninsula. Travelled 68km with a following wind. Sea was rough! Landed on a great beach with penguins and even an elephant seal.

Wow!Otago peninsula looks like a fantastic place, I'm sure you won't want to leave it. That was a lot of kilometres you did, but I think well worth the effort. We don't know what an elephant seal looks like, but pretty big we would think.
Pleased you enjoyed your day off and you must feel much better with your renewed energy.
All for now, happy paddling.

That's a long paddle in one day from Oamaru to (nearly) Dunedin.

The peninsula is beautiful. Where exactly are you camping? I can't see from the map, and the lat/long in the bottom left of the image doesn't correspond to Dunedin.

The Catlins, in South Otago, will be pretty gorgeous as well.
